IFMR’s Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program prepares students for a managerial career in various industries. The program offers specialization in Finance, Marketing, HR, IT/Operations.
Full-time (two years) and part-time (three years) PGDM courses are offered.

Program Overview

Introduction:
IFMR’s unique two-year program in Financial Engineering has been designed to provide management graduates with rigorous training in applied quantitative finance. As financial markets become more integrated and sophisticated, there is a strong demand for graduates who can not only understand and price these products but also measure and manage the risk arising from such products. IFMR’s flagship program in Financial Engineering was launched in year 2005 to meet this demand.
Curriculum:
The program is spread over two years; in the first year, the student is exposed to general areas of management such as Corporate Finance, Accounting, Marketing, IT & Operations, Strategy, Organizational Behaviour. This provides a well-rounded training to the aspiring management graduate. The students also undergo a year-long refresher course in Mathematics that covers the basics of Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics etc.
In the second year, advanced Financial Engineering courses are offered; these include Stochastic Calculus for Finance, Asset Pricing, Interest Rate and Credit Risk Models, Financial Risk Measurement, Simulation Techniques, Financial Econometrics etc (details provided below). The curriculum lays strong emphasis on application of quantitative techniques to problems in finance. These courses are taught by some of the finest finance faculty in the country, who are also associated with the Center for Advanced Financial Studies (CAFS) at IFMR.
Alumni:
The alumni of this program are pursuing highly successful careers, both domestically and globally. They are presently working in banks such as Deutsche Bank (Singapore and Mumbai), Barclays, Bank of America, World Bank, ICICI Bank, UBS and other leading consulting/services firms such as Murex (Singapore), Cap Gemini, Irevna.

PGDM-D&SF

IFMR’s Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Development and Sustainable Finance (PGDM-D& SF) program focuses on special problems related to increasing access to finance in emerging market economies and promoting inclusive growth.
The first of its kind in India, IFMR’s PGDM-D&SF program prepares you for a career in development agencies, not-for-profit organizations, micro finance institutions and other organizations working in areas like micro finance, supply chains in agriculture, rural cooperative finance, cooperative management and NGO management.
Full-time (two years) and part-time (three years) PGDM-D&SF courses are offered.
In the first year of the course, students learn general management along with PGDM students. Starting second year, the curriculum is focused towards developmental economics and developmental finance. Students are also involved in live projects.
