• टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम आवंटन के बारे में न्यायमूर्ति शिवराज पाटिल समिति ने अपनी रिपोर्ट दूरसंचार मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल को सौंपी। सीबीआई ने पूर्व केन्द्रीय मंत्री ए0 राजा से पूछताछ की।

सी बी आई ने टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले के बारे में आज फिर पूर्व दूरसंचार मंत्री ए राजा से पूछताछ की। सरकारी सूत्रों के अनुसार श्री राजा को आज सुबह सी बी आई मुख्यालय बुलाया गया और उनसे नौ घंटे तक पूछताछ की गई। उनसे कंपनियों के लिए लाबींग करने वाली नीरा राडिया से उनकी बातचीत और 2007 में स्पेक्ट्रम आबंटन की अंतिम तारीख को बदलने के कारणों के बारे में पूछा गया।
इस बीच, न्यायमूर्ति सेवानिवृत्त शिवराज पाटील ने आज दूरसंचार मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल को अपनी रिपोर्ट सौंपी। इस एक सदस्यीय समिति ने 2001 और 2009 के दौरान टू-जी लाइसेंस देने की पद्धतियों पर गौर किया था और नीति पर पारदर्शी तरीके से और ईमानदारी से अमल करने में खामियों के लिये जिम्मेदार अधिकारियों की पहचान की है।

रिपोर्ट प्राप्त करने के बाद श्री सिब्बल ने कहा कि रिपोर्ट का अध्ययन करने के बाद उनका मंत्रालय उचित कार्रवाई करेगा।
मैंने अभी रिपोर्ट नहीं देखी है इसलिए इसके बारे में मैं ज्यादा नहीं कह सकता। लेकिन जब हम रिपोर्ट के निष्कर्षों को जान लेंगे तो फिर मैं प्रेस से बात करूंगा और देश की जनता को बताया जाएगा कि रिपोर्ट में क्या है और एक सदस्यीय कमेटी के जो निष्कर्ष हैं उस पर क्या कार्रवाई करने जा रहे हैं।

पर्यावरण मंत्री जयराम रमेश ने करीब एक साल के बाद आज दक्षिण कोरिया की एक बड़ी इस्पात कंपनी पास्को के ओडीशा में पांच सौ बीस अरब रूपये के एक संयंत्र को मंजूरी दे दी। यह मंजूरी पर्यावरण और वन संबंधी कुछ शर्तों के साथ दी गई है।
पास्को प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश का भारत में अब तक की सबसे बड़ी परियोजना है। उम्मीद की जा रही है कि इसके लगभग 8 लाख 70 हजार रोजगार के अवसर प्राप्त हो सकेंगे। साथ ही वर्ष 2017 तक उड़ीसा के आर्थिक विकास में इसका योगदान साढ़े ग्यारह प्रतिशत रहने की संभावना है। इस परियोजना को उस समय मंजूरी मिली है वैश्विक आर्थिक मंदी के वजह से प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश में 26 प्रतिशत तक की कमी आई है। शर्तों के आधार पर दी गई इस मंजूरी में पर्यावरण मंत्रालय ने उड़ीसा सरकार से यह आश्वासन मांगा है कि लगभग 12 सौ हेक्टेयर भूमि अधिग्रहण के दौरान वनाधिकार का उल्लंघन न हो।

गृहमंत्री पी चिदम्बरम ने कहा है कि पिछले साल सितम्बर में केन्द्रीय सतर्कता आयुक्त के चयन के लिए हुई चयन समिति में श्री पी जे थॉमस के खिलाफ पामोलीन मामले पर चर्चा हुई थी। लेकिन वे इस सवाल को टाल गये कि क्या चार्जशीट किये गये व्यक्ति को नियुक्त किया गया है।

नई दिल्ली में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में श्री चिदम्बरम ने लोकसभा में विपक्ष की नेता सुषमा स्वराज की इस बात से सहमति जताई कि श्री थॉमस को केन्द्रीय सतर्कता आयुक्त नामजद करने से पहले समिति ने उनके खिलाफ लंबित मामले के मुद्दे पर चर्चा की थी।

इस बीच, कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता ने कहा है कि मुख्य सतर्कता आयुक्त पी जे थामस की नियुक्ति के बारे में उच्चतम न्यायालय का फैसला मानना सबके लिए अनिवार्य होगा। श्री मनीष तिवारी ने कहा कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी को न्यायालय की प्रक्रिया पर लगातार टिप्पणी करने से बचना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि गृह मंत्री न्यायालय में अटार्नी जनरल की दलील पर पहले ही स्पष्टीकरण दे चुके हैं और इस मामले का राजनीतिकरण नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।

श्री तिवारी ने यह भी कहा कि अमरीका के ट्राई वैली विश्वविद्यालय के बंद होने के मामले में भारतीय छात्रों पर हो रहा अत्याचार बंद होना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि इन छात्रों के साथ अपराधियों की तरह व्यवहार नहीं होना चाहिए बल्कि घोटाले में शामिल एजेंटों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए।

आदर्श सोसायटी घोटाले में सीबीआई ने आज भी छापे मारे हैं। सीबीआई के सूत्रों के अनुसार इन छापों के दौरान फाइलें, लैपटॉप, कम्प्यूटर हार्डडिस्क और कई अन्य दस्तावेज बरामद किये गये।

मुम्बई में मालेगांव के अतिरिक्त जिलाधीश यशवंत सोनावणे की हत्या के मुख्य अभियुक्त पोपट शिंदे का आज मुम्बई में अस्पताल में देहांत हो गया। पोपट, 25 जनवरी को श्री सोनावणे पर मिट्टी का तेल डालकर उन्हें जलाते समय खुद भी जल गया था।

एयर इंडिया का एक विशेष विमान मिस्र की राजधानी काहिरा से करीब 300 यात्रियों को लेकर आज दोपहर मुंबई पहुंचा। मिस्र में सरकार के खिलाफ हिंसक प्रदर्शनों के कारण वहां फंसे भारतीय नागरिकों को लाने के लिए यह बोइंग 747- 800 विमान कल काहिरा भेजा गया था। हवाई अड्डा सूत्रों के अनुसार एयर इंडिया ने अपनी मुंबई- जद्दाह उड़ान को भी काहिरा तक भेजने का फैसला किया है ताकि और भारतीयों को वहां से निकाला जा सके। अनुमान है कि वहां अब भी करीब 6 सौ भारतीय मौजूद हैं जिन्हें वापस भारत लाया जाना है। इनमें पर्यटक भी शामिल हैं।

इस बीच, मिस्र में राष्ट्रपति हुस्ने मुबारक के खिलाफ आंदोलन का आज सातवां दिन है। सेना ने इस इलाके के चारों तरफ से घेर लिया है और पहचान पत्रों की जांच का काम शुरू कर दिया है। शक्ति प्रदर्शन के तौर पर काहिरा के निचले इलाकों में लडाकू विमानों की गर्जना सुनाई देती रही।

हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि प्रदर्शनकारियों ने राष्ट्रपति को हटाने की अपनी मांग के लिए कल काहिरा में अनिश्चित काल की एक आम हड़ताल और दस लाख लोगों की कूच का आह्‌वान किया है।

राष्ट्रपति मुबारक के इस्तीफे की मांग को लेकर प्रदर्शनकारी काहिरा के तहरी क्वायर पर इकट्ठा हैं और कल दस लाख लोगों के जुलूस का आह्‌वान किया गया है। प्रदर्शनकारियों को शांत करने के प्रयासों राष्ट्रपति मुबारक ने नये उपराष्ट्रपति, प्रधानमंत्री की निुयक्ति और कई नये कैबिनेट मंत्रियों को नामित करने के अलावा तेज राजनीतिक और आर्थिक सुधारों को लागू करने का आदेश भी दिया है। लेकिन इन घोषणाओं का प्रदर्शनकारियों पर असर दिखाई नहीं देता। क्षेत्र के अन्य देश घटनाक्रम को आशंका से देख रहे हैं। अमरीका ने राष्ट्रपति मुबारक के इस्तीफे की सीधी मांग से परहेज करते हुए नये सरकार के लिए शांतिपूर्ण कदम बढ़ाने के लिए कहा है। विश्लेषकों का कहना है कि मिस्र अमेरीका की मध्यपूर्व नीति में महत्वपूर्ण स्थान रखता है और आतंक के खिलाफ विश्व व्यापी अभियान ईरान नीति के संदर्भ में उसकी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है।

सरकार ने मुम्बई गोदी में भारतीय जहाज आई एन एस विंध्यगिरि और साइप्रस के मालवाहक जहाज एम वी नोर्डलेक के बीच हुई टक्कर की जांच शुरू कर दी है। इस टक्कर में किसी के हताहत होने की खबर नहीं है। हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इस घटना में आई एन एस विंध्यगिरि को काफी नुकसान पहुंचा है।

नेवी के अधिकारियों की शिकायत के चलते व्यापारिक जहाज एम वी नोर्डलेक के कर्मीदल के खिलाफ एफआईआर दर्ज की गई है। फिलहाल किसी की भी गिरफ्‌तारी नहीं हुई है और इस मामले पर अधिक जांच की जा रही है। रविवार को भारतीय नौ सेना के युद्धपोत आईएनएस विन्ध्यागिरि जहाज व्यापारिक जहाज से टकराई थी जिसके चलते विन्ध्यागिरि में आग लग गई थी। इस आग पर आज दोपहर काबू पा लिया गया था। डिफेंस के प्रवक्ता मनोहर नामबियार ने मुम्बई में यह जानकारी दी जहाज में आग बुझाते वक्त पानी भर गया था जिसकी वजह से वह एक ओर झुक गया है। कुछ नुकसान जरूर हुआ है मगर कोई प्रकार की जान-हानि नहीं हुई है। नामबियार ने यह आश्वासन दिया है कि कोई प्रकार के तेल छलकाने की घटना नहीं घटी है और कोस गार्ड स्टैंडबाई पर हैं। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि जहाज की ट्रैफिक में कोई बाधा नहीं है।

सरकार ने देश में चीन के नागरिकों की बढत+ी संदिग्ध गतिविधियों की खबरों को गंभीरता से लिया है। रक्षामंत्री ए के एंटनी ने आज कहा कि जांच एजेंसियां इस मामले की सच्चाई और ब्यौरा जानने के लिए इस पर गौर कर रही हैं। हाल में चीन के चार नागरिकों को संदिग्ध गतिविधियों के लिए देश के विभिन्न भागों से पकड़ा गया है। एजेंसियां, चीन के साथ कथित संपर्कों को लेकर 17वें करमापा से भी पूछताछ कर रही हैं।

इससे पहले श्री एंटनी ने गणतंत्र दिवस परेड में सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करने वाले स्कूलों और दिल्ली, कर्नाटक तथा जम्मू कश्मीर की सर्वश्रेष्ठ तीन झांकियों को पुरस्कार प्रदान किये।

भारत, नेपाल-भारत आर्थिक सहयोग कार्यक्रम के तहत, गोरखा जिले में अरूचनौते गांव में भीमोदय मल्टीपल कैंपस के निर्माण के लिए नेपाल को तीन करोड़ 54 लाख रूपये की अनुदान सहायता दे रहा है। इस बारे में काठमांडू में भारतीय दूतावास और गोरखा की जिला विकास समिति तथा संबंद्ध कॉलेज अधिकारियों के बीच एक सहमति ज्ञापन पर आज हस्ताक्षर हुए। लघु विकास परियोजनाओं के तहत गोरखा जिले में भारत की सहायता से शुरू की जाने वाली यह छठी विकास परियोजना है।

डीएमके और कांग्रेस ने तमिलनाडु में विधानसभा चुनावों के लिए अपने गठबंधन को जारी रखने का फैसला किया है। कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी के साथ नई दिल्ली में मुलाकात के बाद डीएमके अध्यक्ष एम0 करूणानिधि ने कहा कि सीटों के बंटवारे के बारे में तय करने के लिए एक समिति गठित की जाएगी।

इससे पहले, दिन में उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह से सीटों के बंटवारे के बारे में बातचीत की।

आंध्र प्रदेश में कांग्रेस ने प्रजा राज्यम पार्टी के साथ अपने संबंध मजबूत बनाने के लिए प्रजा राज्यम के अध्यक्ष चिरंजीवी को बातचीत के लिए दिल्ली बुलाया है। कांग्रेस नेता और रक्षा मंत्री ए. के. एंटनी ने हैदराबाद में संवाददाताओं को यह जानकारी दी।

राज्यों के मुख्यमंत्रियों के कल होने वाले सम्मेलन में आर्थिक अपराधों से निपटने, विशेष तौर पर नकली भारतीय मुद्रा के मुद्दे पर प्रमुख रूप से विचार होगा। नई दिल्ली में आयोजित इस सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह करेंगे।

.आई सी सी ने स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि भारत और इंग्लैंड के बीच 27 फरवरी को कोलकाता के ईडन गार्डन में होने वाला विश्व कप मैच अब बेंगलूर में आयोजित किया जाएगा। यह मैच ईडन गार्डन के पूरी तरह तैयार न हो पाने के कारण इस ऐतिहासिक मैदान से छीन लिया गया था। आई सी सी ने बेंगलूर को इस मैच का स्थल घोषित करते हुए यह भी बताया कि उसकी एक मैदान निरीक्षण टीम कोलकाता का दौरा करेगी और यह देखेगी कि ईडन गार्डन में शेष तीन मैचों का आयोजन किया जा सकता है या नहीं।

वर्ष 2009 -10 के लिए सकल घरेलू उत्पाद में संशोधित वृद्धि दर आठ प्रतिशत हो गई है। शुरू में इस अवधि के लिए इसे सात दशमलव चार प्रतिशत रखा गया था। सांख्यकी तथा कार्यक्रम क्रियान्वयन मंत्रालय के ताजा अनुमानों के अनुसार उच्च सकल घरेलू उत्पाद के लिए परिवहन, भंडारन और संचार के अलावा वित्त बीमा और व्यक्तिगत सेवाओं में तेजी से होने वाला विकास जिम्मेदार है। प्रतिव्यक्ति आय में भी वृद्धि हुई है और यह साढ़े 14 प्रतिशत हो गई है।

The CBI today questioned former Telecom Minister A Raja again in connection with 2G Spectrum allocation scam. Official sources said that Mr. Raja was called to the CBI office this morning and quizzed for nine hours. He was asked about his conversations with corporate lobbiyst Nira Radia and the reasons of advancing the cut-off date of allocation of the spectrum in 2007. Earlier Justice (Retd.) Shivraj Patil submitted its report to Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal today. The one-man panel that went into the procedures for giving 2G licenses between 2001 and 2009 has identified the officials responsible for lapses in implementing the policy in a transparent and fair manner. Justice Patil later told reporters that the report also suggests a future course of action on how licenses should be allocated. After submitting the report to the telecom minister, he said that the committee has identified the officials in the Department of Telecommunications responsible for deficiencies and violations. 

The Telecom Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal after receiving the report said that his ministry will take appropriate action after going through the report.

The justice Shivraj Patil committee was set up after the 2G spectrum scam came to light. The mandate of the committee was to look into the appropriateness of procedures adopted by the Department of telecommunications in the issuances of license from 2001 to 2009.

The NDA will discuss the future course of action in the wake of submission of report by Justice Shivraj Patil Committee on 2G licenses in New Delhi tomorrow. Senior BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj told a press conference in Kochi that there is no change in the party's demand for a JPC probe on the spectrum allocation issue. Mrs. Swaraj said, she is happy that Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram conceded that the selection committee did discuss the Palmolien import case against Central Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomas.

Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh today granted clearance for South Korean steel giant Posco's 52000 crore rupees plant in Odisha after almost a year,  The clearance has, however, been granted with some conditions involving environment and forests. Posco's annual steel production capacity is estimated at  12 million tonne. AIR correspondent reports, that  the project will be a great step forward to accelerate infrastructure development in the country.

Posco is the single biggest foreign direct investment project in India.  It is expected to generate 8.7 lakh jobs and contribute 11.5 per cent to Orissa’s economy by 2017. The project got the nod at a time when the country's FDI inflow declined by 26 per cent due to fragile global economic recovery. The environment ministry in its conditional approval has sought an assurance from the Naveen patnaik government that there will be no violation of Forest Right Act  while acquiring over 1200 hectares of land for the project. The final approval will be granted   only after the assurance.

An Air India plane, carrying about 300 stranded passengers from strife-torn Egypt, landed in Mumbai today afternoon. The Aircraft was flown to Cairo on Sunday as a special measure to airlift the Indians stranded there amidst nationwide unrest against the Egyptian government. According to current estimates, there are about 600 Indians, including tourists, who are to be transported back to India.        

Meanwhile, thousands of foreign nationals caught up in the mass anti-government protests are being evacuated from Egypt. The first American chartered aircraft ferryed people from Cairo to Cyprus.

 As protests against President Mubarak in Egypt enter the seventh day, the protesters have called for an indefinite general strike today and a million men march tomorrow in Cairo to press for their demand of the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak. While hundreds of protesters have gathered at Cairo's Tahrir square, the authorities have ordered riot police back onto the streets, which has been ordered to coordinate with Army during their operations. The Al Jazeera channel has announced that its 5 production staff have been arrested in Egypt. The government has already banned the channel in the country. Meanwhile, Egyptian TV has reported that Mahmoud Wagdi has been named new interior minister in the country.

Egyptian government has responded with appointed of new Vice President, prime minister and naming of some new cabinet ministers apart from increased security presence and declaration of launch of rapid political and economic reforms. But announcements appear to be created little excitement among demonstrators. Countries in the region are watching the developments with nervousness and United States has called for an orderly transition to a new government but stopped short of demanding resignation of President Hosni Mubarak. Analysts say that Egypt has been a cornerstone of US Middle East policy for decades and pivotal for Washington's global anti-terror campaign and efforts to contain Iran.

 Egyptian reform campaigner and Nobel Prize winner Mohamed El Baradei who joined the protestors last night, once again asked President Hosni Mubarak to step down. Offices, Schools, Business Establishments and Stock exchange remain closed across the country.

The Government has initiated an inquiry into the collision between Indian warship INS Vindhyagiri and a Cyprus flag container carrier MV Nordlake in the Mumbai harbour. INS Vindhyagiri today went down to the sea bed after being severely damaged due to the incident. The collision, which occured yesterday, led to fire and flooding onboard the Indian ship. AIR correspondent reports, an FIR was also registered today against the captain and crew members of the foreign merchant vessel besides holding it  back in the Mumbai harbour.

A committee, set up to probe irregularities in awarding broadcasting rights during Commonwealth Games  today submitted its interim report in the Prime Minister's Office. The committee is headed by Former Comptroller and Auditor General V K Shunglu. The term of the panel has been extended till 31st of March to submit its full report.

Earlier in the day, Karunanidhi had a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the seat sharing issue.

Government has taken a serious view of the reported increased suspicious activities of Chinese nationals in the country.  The Defence Minister, Mr. A.K.Antony today said that investigating agencies are looking into the issue to find out the details and the truth. The Minister was responding to queries of the newsmen about alleged spurt in clandestine activities by Chinese nationals.

The US today sought to justify the use of ankle monitors on the students, duped by the now closed Tri Valley University. A statement issued by US embassy in New Delhi today said that ankle monitoring is widespread across America as a standard procedure for a variety of investigations and does not necessarily imply suspicion of criminal activity. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have established a helpline for the Indian students affected by the closure of the University, under which any affected student may call to seek help.

The government has approved an additional subsidy of eight thousand crore rupees today to make up for the losses suffered by state-run fuel retailers on the sale of diesel, LPG and kerosene below cost in the third quarter. The official sources said that the Finance Ministry has issued a letter approving the payment of a cash compensation to Indian Oil Company, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

Government today said that over 18 lakh tonne of sugar will be made available for the month of February. According to an official release this quantity will be sufficient to meet the internal demand of sugar in the next month.

 Falling for the fourth straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange dropped 68 points, or 0.4 percent, to a nearly 5-month low of 18,328, today. The Sensex fell on concerns about high input costs and interest rates denting corporate profits, worries about the unrest in Egypt, and weak global markets. The Nifty shed 6 points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,506. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore declined between 0.7 percent and 1.8 percent.  The rupee weakened 15 paise, to 45.91 against the dollar.  Gold rose 80 rupees, to 20,400 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. And crude oil futures gained 41 cents, to 89.75 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

 The ICC today confirmed its decision to relocate the venue for the India vs England match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. The match which had been originally scheduled for Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 27th of February will now be held in Bengaluru on the same date. According to a statement of ICC, issued in Dubai today, the ICC outlined a schedule of works that needed to be carried out at Eden Gardens ahead of the ground’s other scheduled fixtures on 15, 18 and 20 March. As such, an inspection team will visit Kolkata again on 7 February to assess progress in line with that schedule.

No Blueline buses will ply on the roads in the national capital from tomorrow.  Talking to reporters, Delhi Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said, the government has no intention to extend the deadline which expire today.
