Nutrition in Vegetables and Fruits


Vegetables and Fruits are said to be the storehouse of nutrients. While giving an overview of the nutritional values of fresh vegetables and fruits, it should be noted that the vegetables and fruits lose their nutrient value if stored for a longer time. A lot of research has proven the fact that intake of fruits and vegetables leads to great result of healthy body and keeps a number of diseases at bay. The nutrition value of fruits and vegetables help in accelerating the metabolic rate of the body and burns the extra calorie.
Intake of fruits, vegetables and pulses and cereal in proper proportion has been proved useful in matter of health. Proper diet and nutrition goes hand in hand. Persons who take proper amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in their everyday diet have been observed to be more healthy and fit.
Fruits like apple, banana, grapes, mangoes, melon, orange, papaya, pears and pineapples have high nutritional value. All these foods contain protein, minerals, vitamin and carbohydrate in such a proportion that leads to a balanced diet. Vegetables like cabbage, carrots, French beans, garlic, onion, potato and tomatoes are also considered to have high nutritional value. It is interesting to note that a balanced vegetarian diet chart comprises of a good quantity intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Vegetables and Fruits if taken properly can account for a balanced diet. However care should be taken in the fact of the proportion of intake of fruits and vegetables. They should be taken in a greater amount as they are into the responsibility of compensating for the nutritional values that one get from non-vegetarian foods, i.e. meat products. However, if the intake of fruits and vegetables are complimented with other cereals and grain products, it certainly adds more to the nutritional value.
